DROPOUT PREVENTION & RECOVERY

OREGON

In 2009, Oregon enacted dropout policies related to the collection and reporting of data without any programmatic initiatives. That same year, the state began reporting graduation rates using the National Governors Association’s methodology.

The state’s compulsory attendance age was set at 18 prior to 2002. Students under 16 who are employed or enrolled in an alternative learning program are allowed to withdraw from school at age 16. Oregon's maximum public school entitlement age is 21.
