ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION

ARKANSAS

Arkansas provides clear guidelines to school districts on alternative education on matters such as student-teacher ratios, teacher certification and professional development, and access to counseling and mental health services.

The state's funding policy also seeks to ensure that programs have enough resources to serve high-need students. For each student, alternative education programs receive a base amount times the alternative education student's full-time equivalent in the previous school year.
