ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION

FLORIDA

Florida gives credit to alternative schools for making progress with students. For accountability purposes, the state identifies the percentage of students making learning gains each year, compared to the percentage of the same students making learning gains in their home schools in the year prior to being assigned to alternative school.

Florida also encourages school districts and alternative schools to enter partnerships with local businesses for mentorship opportunities, development of employment options, and additional funding.
