ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION

WASHINGTON

Washington's alternative programs are meant to be "flexible and innovative," and can be used by high school students for credit recovery or credit acceleration.

Alternative programs must have a written plan for each participating student, a district-approved ratio of staff to students, direct personal contact between students and staff at least weekly in the case of online programs, and a description of how student performance will be supervised, assessed, and recorded. Students' educational progress must be reviewed at least monthly.
